Georgia Conservation Voters is saddened by the passing of Georgia State Representative Tish Naghise yesterday. She was 59 years old.

Rep. Naghise was a freshman state representative for the 68th district. She was also a member of the Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund team from August 2021 to January 2023. During her tenure at GCV and GCVEF, she was a cherished coworker, mentor and friend. She was an inspiration to the GCV team and her experiences showed her quality as an individual who fought for equity and justice for all.

Georgia Conservation Voters Executive Director Brionte McCorkle had the following statement:

“Tish was a passionate and dedicated community organizer and leader. I admired her strength and resilience in the face of life’s challenges and feel I still had so much more to learn from her. It was an honor to work with her as she took on the role of State Representative. I will miss her and am deeply grateful for the time I did have with her.”

Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund Organizing Director Wan Smith shared the following about Rep. Naghise to the Associated Press:

“She was an extraordinary servant leader, an extraordinary and multifaceted leader, who didn’t start or stop with the legislature.”

We send our love, thoughts and prayers to Rep. Naghise’s family and friends during this difficult time.
