Atlanta, GA — Georgia Conservation Voters (GCV) issued the following statement from Executive Director Brionté McCorkle in response to the historic confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson:

“Georgia Conservation Voters would like to extend a very heartfelt congratulations to newly confirmed Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to join our country’s highest court. Justice Jackson’s historic confirmation is a major step towards a more just and sustainable future, and we are thrilled to see someone so eminently qualified confirmed to the Supreme Court.  We look forward to the impact she will make through her service, and to seeing her continue the legacy that Justice Breyer forged to fight for and protect Americans in all aspects of life.

We would also like to thank Senators Warnock and Ossoff in their tireless efforts to support Justice Jackson throughout the nomination process and their votes to ensure her confirmation. It’s clear that when Georgians show up to the polls to support pro-environment champions like Senators Ossoff and Warnock, our state and our nation make progress.”
