Georgia Conservation Voters releases Ad on Okefenokee Swamp
Ad follows years-long battle to halt progress on titanium mine by Twin Pines Minerals, LLC.
Georgia Conservation Voters released an ad on Friday, October 28th, pushing back against a titanium mine next to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge proposed by Twin Pines Minerals, LLC. The 18-second ad highlights the importance of the Okefenokee as a global natural treasure and the potential harm mining operations could have on the wildlife, environment and local economy.
The ad also references over $40,000 in campaign contributions that Governor Kemp received from Twin Pines and its lobbyists, which may explain why Governor Kemp has not said a word about the mining operation during his entire term. In contrast, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has said she will deny the permits for the mine.
The ad will continue running through November 9, 2022, and can be found at https://www.facebook.com/ads/experience/confirmation/?experience_id=957196898571708&is_responsive=0.
